Privet – Veil

A shrub to promote subtlety.

An element of the unseen or hidden is attached to this plant. This is not a time for manipulating situations, better to gently guide. Sexual relationships should be dealt with sensitively. Protect yourself by acting with caution; yet avoid any clandestine activity or secret trysts. Loving someone is giving what they need, not what they want. A small gesture or a word of support can be more effective than a big show. Enjoying the company of others is very important; there is also safety and strength in numbers.

The hardwood of the Privet was used mainly for small tools and objects. The berries produced a good dye for cloth and an ink for the scribe. The flowers and berries were used by the herbalist, despite beeing very toxic. Mainly for the mouth and eyes , the preperations were also good on open sores. Internally perscribed for problems of menstruation.

The subtle white bloom of the Privet is governed by the Full Moon. In The Cad Goddeu Graves describes it as "inexperienced in warfare," so it is not a warrior tree, but effect for it's passive and cloaking protection. The full moon has impact on its environment even when veiled in cloud.
